In summer, we give our feet a little freedom by giving them the opportunity to flirt with the sun and fresh grass. What if we got into the habit of pampering them more?

Used to be wrapped in stockings or oppressed in shoes, our feet suffer in silence. Too infrequently, we pamper them like our hands, for example. Yet they are the basis of our movements and allow us to stand! A little math lesson: a foot is made up of 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 100 tendons, ligaments and muscles. Moreover? Our feet can support 3 times the weight of our body. Every day we take around 10,000 steps. No need to search why we sometimes feel our feet so tired, heavy and swollen! Time to pamper them!

Treat small injuries

Blisters stalk you every time you put on new shoes. It is true that they appear as a result of new and repetitive pressures or frictions. To prevent or treat them, we always drag a bandage in our handbag to affix it as soon as we feel pain. There are also products available in pharmacies to treat these small painful pockets.

Thecorns and calluses are also usually caused by shoes that are too tight or ill-fitting. Even shoes that are too big can cause damage. Corns are thickenings of the skin (superficial layer) especially at the level of the toes while calluses, surfaces where the skin hardens and thickens, are found more on the sole of the foot, near the big toe or on the heel. Attention! The larger the surface of a callus, the greater the risk that it will be painful. It is better to treat them quickly with products specific to these problems, on sale in pharmacies, and to start a good habit of hygiene and foot care to prevent them.

Plantar warts are small skin tumors caused by a virus. They are contagious, so care should be taken when walking around in public places barefoot. They are especially noticeable on the sole of the foot, sometimes alone or in mosaics. Because they create a hard surface, they are sometimes mistaken for corns or calluses. Warts can go away on their own or can be cured with an over-the-counter treatment. If they are too many or keep coming back, a doctor can eliminate them with liquid nitrogen treatment.

If you have small feet that give off bad odors, you should especially pay attention to the stockings you wear. Changing them often helps us prevent bad smells. Also, one can take foot baths in an infusion of herbs orstill opt for antiperspirant care.

Take care of our feet

Not often our feet can boast of being objects of pure beauty. Their few months of adventure in the fresh air are not enough for their skin to be soft and supple. They are dry. Our skin cracks and cracks, almost resembling crocodile skin. It's time to switch to "hydration" mode to avoid itching, cracking and other inconveniences of too dry skin. Our feet do not contain sebaceous glands (which produce sebum which is excellent for lubricating our skin), so we have to compensate.

First, we wash our feet well during our bath or shower. But, above all, we must wipe them with our towel when we go out. Then, for optimum care, they are creamed with a moisturizing lotion. If you're dealing with very dry skin, don't skimp on a lotion specifically designed for rich hydration. We penetrate the cream with circular movements and we take the opportunity to massage our toes generously. Double effect!

Better yet, plan a favorite foot treatment once a week. They are soaked in hot soapy water (or with a touch of essential oil). We apply an exfoliant, then a mask and we finish with a moisturizer. During the exfoliation, we can gently rub our calluses with a pumice stone.

Need a shock treatment for a goodhydration?

We apply a thick layer of cream on our feet. We slip our feet into two plastic bags. We slip them again into stockings to hold them down. We let everything act for about twenty minutes.

Good ideas

Massaging them often and doing simple flexion and extension exercises with our feet causes… a sweet feeling of well-being.

  • We massage each of our toes, one by one, gently stretching them.
  • We put our foot on the ground and lift our toes. Then we put them back on the ground, one by one, starting with the little one.
  • Because our foot contains a lot of nerve connections and especially if we believe in the principles of reflexology, we massage the soles of our feet. Feeling of well-being guaranteed.
  • We move our ankles and protect them from sudden extensions. We rotate smoothly.
  • We walk barefoot in the grass to rediscover that sweet lost feeling!
