Our skin, which is the largest organ of our body, is often very neglected… With winter bringing wind and cold, we have to react!

If there are people who take care of their skin, care for it, moisturize it and nourish it properly, there are many others who don't care, or very little !

We put cream

At this time of the year, the skin suffers mainly from dryness… Covering clothes, heating, hot baths, wind, cold are all factors that play against your skin and against which you have to fight if you want to keep beautiful skin at all times…

Before each of your outdoor activities, apply a moisturizer to your face, neck and hands, it will protect your skin from the cold. Don't forget children: their skin is three times thinner than adults, so their skin is more fragile and needs even more care! Favor a cream that contains a sunscreen of at least 15, so you will kill two birds with one stone by protecting the whole little family from the sun too.

What about the hands then?

Mums of young children are amazed to discover that their hands are always wet, moist and finally…dry! When doing dishes or washing by hand, use rubber gloves as often as possible to protect your hands. We must also avoid passing our hands from cold to hot water or exposing them directly to the cold. They are more fragile than they look! And after drying your hands, use a nourishing cream (based on Calendula, for example) and protection as often as possible.

Less baths

First piece of advice, replace long, very hot baths with a quick shower in temperate water… It’s recognized that heat dries out, so we try to temper our water rather than boiling it in the bath! Then - if it's okay for you, of course - take your shower or bath every other day rather than every day… The other day you'll wash with a washcloth… Reducing your body's exposure with water and especially soap, you give your skin a chance. Moreover, many doctors advise parents not to bathe their baby or child every day, but rather to wash them with a washcloth from time to time to let their skin breathe!

Precisely, soaps are often responsible for many irritations… Many contain dyes, deodorants, strong perfumes… A person who has dry skin and children should not use such products and should rather fall back on soaps recognized for their softness.

There's no need to skin yourself alive when you wipe yourselfafter a bath or a shower… Some wipe themselves as if they were sanding a floor… You may not realize it, but your skin does not like to be treated like this… It is better gently pat your body with a soft towel, your skin will retain some of its moisture!

We cream again

Of course, after cleansing, you have to think about creaming yourself to form a kind of barrier on the skin and prevent the water from leaving. It's true that it takes at least 5 minutes when you take your time… Christmas is coming and the shelves are full of moisturizers of all kinds… So take the opportunity to ask for some in your Christmas stocking…

Food is also important

Diet plays an important role in the condition of your skin. Vitamin A found in fruits and vegetables helps fight against dry skin. Vitamin B, on the other hand, prevents the skin from cracking, while vitamin C gives it elasticity, so favor foods that contain it.

Cracked Lips

Naturally, the use of a lip balm is recommended throughout the cold season since the wind and the cold contribute to the dehydration of the skin, and therefore of the lips. Be careful, however, to only use quality balms, otherwise you will make the problem worse instead of improving it! Be aware that most lipsticks, especially those in the long-lasting style and matte textures, are drying.

If youregularly have chapped lips and balms can no longer do anything for you, in the evening, brush your lips lightly with a toothbrush with soft bristles to remove dead skin. Then apply a good layer of petroleum jelly (vaseline). It is not ideal for romantic connections, but it is very effective for finding beautiful soft lips. Also very good for knees and elbows which are often drier areas.
