Your child's birthday is coming up and you feel up to hosting the friends party? Here are some ideas for workshops to make these few hours a memorable party!

Make your birthday hat
To relax the atmosphere and allow all the children to get to know each other, have them make a party hat themselves as soon as they arrive. You can make a base to suit your theme and let them add the details or have them make the entire hat if you think your group of little friends like to craft.

Unwrapping a gift with mittens
It is a well-known game that has proven itself. Wrap a gift in several layers of wrapping paper, taking care to put plenty of adhesive paper and place the gift in front of the birthday person, having them first put on large mittens, a toque and a scarf. Sit all the children in a circle and give them each 30 seconds to take turns trying to unwrap the gift with the mittens. To engage them even more, have them sing "Happy Birthday" and the full song will determine the length.maximum of one turn. To complicate it, make them wear oven mitts!

Disguise Chest
Have you accumulated swords, masks, princess dresses and wigs over the years? Here is a great opportunity to use them! Put all the old Halloween costumes and all your accessories in a chest and let the children invent scenarios and have fun. In addition, this exercise will have allowed you to store everything in one place. Isn't life beautiful?

Donkey Game
This is a game that has lost some of its popularity over the past few years. Still, a child who has turned three turns, blindfolded, and tries to stick the donkey's tail in the wrong place is very funny. You can buy the donkey from party shops like Party Expert or make it yourself. You can also adapt the game to your theme. For example, children can stick on a pirate's eye patch, the princess's crown or the astronaut's helmet.

Makeups
Makeups are always a hit. Just look at the long queues during a festival! So, buy a few crayons or a few makeup pots and draw the kids whatever they want. Typically, kids this age ask for a butterfly, flower, sun, Spiderman, or cat nose. You can draw it on their cheek or take their nose as the focal point of a makeup thatcovers the whole face. If you haven't drawn in a long time, you can practice by watching a tutorial the night before, there are plenty online.

Obstacle Course
At five or six years old, children like to show what they are capable of. Give them the opportunity to experience a moment of glory and have a lot of fun by organizing an obstacle course. Have them carry an egg in a spoon from point A to point B, jump through rings in record time, do a hoop endurance contest, do relay races, run in pairs with their legs attached… will have fun like crazy! You can even craft fake medals to reward them.

Chocolate Skewers
Cut bananas, ripe strawberries, other soft fruits and marshmallows for kids to make beautiful fruit skewers on wooden sticks. These skewers will become a nice snack that they can enjoy with a chocolate fondue after your workshop. It's a party after all!

Decorating cupcakes
As a party cake, make cupcakes and let the kids decorate them as they like. Have several colors of frosting, small candies, marshmallows and chocolate chips available and let them compare their works just before asking the birthday party to blow out the candle!

Themusical chair
A great classic! The musical chair is perfect for children of this age. If you do not remember the rules, it is a question of putting one chair less than the number of children present. Play music and have the children dance around the chairs. Once in a while, stop the music and tell everyone to sit down. Remove a chair each time someone is eliminated. The last one to grab a chair wins!

The bottle… a new kind
In the past, bottle-playing involved kissing the person on whom the bottle fell in a nameless moment of discomfort. This version being a bit outdated (and not suitable for young children), why not invent a new bottle game? Write challenges on slips of paper, such as jumping around the group on one leg, make a playdough elephant in 30 seconds, or sing a song, and place your challenges in a bowl. Whoever the bottle points to will have to pick and complete a challenge…
