Handwriting is essential for the education and development of young people. Unfortunately, in a world more connected than ever, it's hard to encourage teens to practice the art of writing.

According to Kathy Buckworth, parenting expert, writing by hand is part of the learning process until the end of adolescence. The combination of paper and pencil has many benefits for our children, no matter the method, whether it's writing a note to a friend or their parents, keeping a diary, doodling or drawing.

Make him chart his path to success
It's hard for young people to know where they're going when they don't have a plan. Goal setting is a crucial strategy to help young people visualize the year ahead.
Discuss with him how he intends to succeed and be happy at school this year. These can be minimum grades to achieve or the number of hours to devote to school, sports and social activities to find the right balance. If your child is uncooperative in wanting to discuss it with you, the following exercise will certainly open the dialogue.
With fun new pens in hand, colored paper or a notebook of their own choosing, have them write down their goals and action plan to achieve them. Using words, drawings and pictures, make it a real creative project! This can be a photo journal or a mind map to which branches are added as the school year progresses. All means are good for your child to clarify his ideas.
Proudly display the project around the house so that the child and yourself can recommend it throughout the year and monitor the achievement of their objectives. Good luck!
