Between work, family, friends and all our obligations, we often tend to relegate physical activity to the bottom of our priorities. But if we had learned, from an early age, to integrate it into our daily lives and to really appreciate its benefits, wouldn't it also be part of our routine?

That's exactly what the team of Fillactive, a foundation whose mission is to help young girls aged 12 to 17 to adopt a he althy and active lifestyle, all in a good mood and fun.

The FitSpirit program

Last year, more than 13,000 girls chose to embark on the FitSpirit program, a three-pronged project aimed at promoting physical activity and the joy of practicing it among friends stages: motivation, training and overcoming.

The adventure begins with the visit of an athlete-lecturer to the schools registered in the program, to motivate the young girls, to inspire them to surpass themselves. Then we move on to training, which consists of 8 to 10 weeks of physical activity with friends, during which time Fillactive ambassadors FitSpirit visit their school for accompany them on their journey and discuss self-esteem.

FitSpirit participants also have the chance to discover new activities through the various yoga and dance workshops offered to them. Then, the experience ends with a big, festive celebration where the girls put their hard work to good use by completing a 5 or 10 km course. No pressure, no competition, only fun in sight!

A microsite to push the experience further

It is also within the framework of this program, which is currently taking place across 255 schools in Quebec and Ontario, that FitSpirit launched, last year, a new microsite: Fillactive.club.

The idea? Offer various tools to FitSpirit participants, as well as to all those who do not attend a school registered in the program, to allow them to complete and improve their training. There is therefore a whole series of interactive exercises available in the form of various training sessions classified according to their level of difficulty, the type of exercises proposed and the total duration of the session.

Each exercise is well explained and provided with an individual timer, and everything ispunctuated with very nice little messages of encouragement such as "If you're thinking of us tomorrow, it's a good sign! », « The shower is going to be good! or “Ryan Gosling would be proud of you!” ". Something to appeal to young girls for sure!

What's more, it offers many pro tips, as well as easy-to-make he althy recipes and the assistance of a real nutritionist who makes a pleasure to answer personally, by e-mail, all the questions which are put to him.

In short, this microsite is the ideal tool to learn how to develop he althy lifestyle habits and get active easily in the comfort of your home. Of course designed for young girls, it is however not strictly reserved for them. No matter your age, you'll find everything you need to take action too!

If you are the mom of a teenager, this is the perfect opportunity to lead by example while spending quality time together. Thirty minutes is all it takes to complete a workout, so there's really no reason not to dedicate at least an evening to it.

My mom and I started doing physical activity together when I left home; At first it was just another excuse to keep seeing each other regularly, but we quickly got used to it and now we really enjoy putting on our sports clothes to go to the gym. Together, we get more motivated and we have time to talk about everything andnothing between two sips of water, which always makes the experience very pleasant.
