Little Gray Tuesday, at Maisonneuve Park. Buses arrive by the dozen. From everywhere, young girls come running, smiling. The energy is palpable and the mood is celebratory. Today we are all Fillactive.
Despite the sky threatening to fall on our heads, the girls arrive at Maisonneuve Park, enthusiastic and visibly in great shape. The atmosphere is thunder. DJ Nick's music resonates and it's hard, if not impossible, not to feel the urge to join the crowd in dancing. Together. All united for the same cause: our he alth. That of today, but also that of tomorrow.
Much more than a sporting event
The solidarity and pride are palpable. You can see it in every look, on every face. They are nearly 4000 girls who, after having completed an 8 to 10 week training program, are stamping their feet with impatience on the starting line.
A whistle is heard and a first wave of girls sets off in a race of 5 or 10 kilometers, as desired. Time is of no importance and far beyond thedistance to go, what matters is the accomplishment. Move, despite everything. Loving each other enough to care for, bond and encourage each other is the ultimate reward.
Giving the desire to move
Across the event site, there are various stations that offer participants a slew of sports activities. From hula hoop to baseball to discus throwing, girls can both warm up and discover new passions. Find a sport that hooks us, that's also FitSpirit.
Fillactive is the most beautiful gift to give to our young girls. It's more than a training program, it's a gift for life. At 15 or 45, physical activity is a passport to a he althier life where head, body and heart live in balance.
How it works
Fillactive works in partnership with secondary schools and ensures, first of all, that all the conditions are met for the program to be a success. Promote the activity, recruit participants and implement activities that reach girls, these are the other commitments of FitSpirit. Not to mention the training offer for young girls and school workers.
The ultimate goal is to create lifestyle habits that will bring lasting change to the women of tomorrow. And at the end of the year, all participating schools areinvited to take part in the celebrations.
