For many reasons, children can start eating less overnight. Here are some tried-and-true tips from moms for dealing with little appetites.

Feed before giving drink
Once your quantities are correct, you can give your child something to drink only after meals. Offer him water before eating and give him his juice or milk after he has eaten at least a little. That way, he'll have a lot more appetite when his plate arrives.

Limit milk to 700ml
“My pediatrician told me to limit milk to 600-700 ml per day maximum after 1 year” - Isabelle
If breast milk is a complete food that is enough to nourish a baby during its first year of life, it is because it is very nutritious. On the other hand, once breastfeeding is over, if you give your child too much cow's milk, it is very likely that he will not have room for anything else in his little stomach. Establish a milk schedule and don't give him more than 600ml or 700ml per day. Other mothers also advised us to swap the cup for a glass to reduce the quantity.

Change 3.25% milk to 2% milk
By cutting out 3.25% milk and giving their child 2% milk, many mothers have managed to make their child hungry again. It does not seem like much, yet it is very effective in restoring the appetite of children with variable hunger.

Small quantities
It's easier to get a child to agree to eat a bite of meat, a bite of vegetables, a bite of pasta, etc. than asking them to eat a large amount of one or two foods.
Better to present the meal as a collection of appetizers than a huge amount of a single flavor. Add a small wedge of tomatoes, another wedge of meat and let him choose the order of his bites. In no time, he'll have eaten a bit of everything and is enjoying the variety.

Find a cause and fix it
If the child has a cold or growing molars, he may have less desire to eat for a while. Offering them easy-to-chew foods like yogurts, soft fruits and vegetables, soups, and tender meats may encourage them to eat more.

Give less attention
“She must be so happy to have so much attention at me altimes! Pick up, don't give her any attention if she's not eating. If she takes a bite, then we congratulate her "suggests a mother who notes that at 3years, her daughter eats a lot more. It is true that if a child likes to get a lot of attention, he might eat less to get more attention and ask for more snacks.

Watch the atmosphere
On the other hand, if you have the impression that he is not eating on purpose, you will be less pleasant during me altimes and your children will see me altimes as an unpleasant moment… which will not help them to eat !
Don't start meals in an overbearing tone. Give your child choices and set small goals. For example, if he sees his plate as a huge challenge, he will be reassured to know that he does not have to empty it.

Patience
These are often bad times to go through. Although some children have very little appetite, their growth chart is often normal. If your child is developing normally and seems he althy, you don't have to worry about his appetite. Your child will always have enough to eat.
A mother told us that her 12-year-old daughter has always eaten very little. After years of stressing herself out with her lack of appetite, she finally came to terms with her daughter being like that. She listens to her body, eats only when she is hungry and is in great shape. Besides, this mom advises you not to worry as she worried because, as she says: "anyway, your little one will not starve to death. »
