Bacon Baked

It's brunch time and you need to make a lot of bacon? Bake it in the oven! In fact, this method is so simple that you'll wonder why you haven't adopted it before. No more spatters and burns on the stove, and especially greasy cleaning! This method has been tested several times by a colleague and she is amazed each time by the simplicity of this cooking!

Place the bacon strips on a cookie sheet lined with foil. Turn the oven on to 375 degrees only when you put the sheet in the oven, not before. The bacon will be cooked in exactly 20 minutes! Remember to watch it after 15 minutes, because depending on the thickness of the slices, the bacon could be cooked to your liking before 20 minutes.

Brown Sugar

How do I keep brown sugar from becoming rock hard? Nothing could be easier: place it in an airtight container with a slice ofbread! Yes, yes, it's very simple and, the best thing about it all, is that you don't have to change the slice of bread, since the sugar prevents it from molding. You could also place a marshmallow instead of the bread.

Another method is to place the original packaging bag open, but rolled up so that there is no air, then put it in a Ziploc from which you have also removed the air before closing it.

Storing the guacamole

Guacamole is delicious, but a bit complicated to keep, since the avocado, in contact with oxygen, oxidizes and also changes its taste. When you have leftover guacamole, place it in a dish and, before closing it, pour a little water (enough to cover the surface exposed to the air). Before serving, pour off the excess water. Thus, the texture will not have changed; neither does the taste.

You could also spray it with a little olive oil.

Pitting cherries

If you cook, or want to give cherries to a young child, you know how time-consuming and unpleasant pitting these berries can be. An easy trick: place the cherry upside down on a bottle (the neck should be a little smaller than the cherry). With a stick, then push the core, which will fall into the bottle. Here it is!

Peel an orange quickly

To make it easier for you when you have an orange to peel, cut both ends of the orange with a knife (avoid touching the flesh of the fruit). Then, make a cut in the other direction, from one end to the other. Gently open the orange, and enjoy!

Making vanilla essence

Vanilla essence (not imitation) is quite expensive. And yet, it's very simple to do (if you have time to wait 2 months before using it!)! All you need is vodka and vanilla beans. We let everything rest in small Mason jars for 8 weeks, and voila! Plus, with a cute tag, it makes a very nice Christmas gift.

Frozen Fruit

You can use frozen fruit to replace ice cubes, in your favorite drink! A few grapes in a glass of wine, for example, or strawberries in a sangria or a soda, and your drink will not only be cold, but it will have a little more pretty to look at… and to chew on!

Broken Mixer

Broken the glass container of your electric blender? Do not panic! You can, themost of the time, replace it with a mason jar. What is doubly pleasant is that you can enjoy your favorite smoothie directly from the famous pot. Less dishes: we always like that!

Soften the butter

Supper will be served in two minutes, but, nightmare, you forgot the butter in the refrigerator! Quick solution: warm a glass (under hot water or in the microwave) and then place it above your block of butter. This one will soften in time to say!

Separate egg whites and yolks

You can easily separate egg whites and egg yolks without getting them all over the place and without the risk of dropping them in the bottom of the sink! Super simple if you have an empty, clean plastic bottle: all you have to do is gently crack your eggs and put them on a small plate. Then, squeezing the bottle, suck out the yolk. This way you can transport it to another container!

Cherry Tomatoes

Have to cut several cherry tomatoes to prepare a dish? Instead of proceeding one at a time, place several tomatoes on a small plate (or in a yogurt pot lid…), cover them with another plate, and slice by passing your knife between the two. Here it is!

You can use the same method to slice pitted olives or any other smallfruits or vegetables.
