A mother's tasks are many and the professional pressure she experiences is intense. How much would a mother's work be worth if we decided to pay her?

Putting numbers on a mother's job is as complex as her tasks are varied. A mom is part accountant, housekeeper, CEO, secretary, nurse, psychologist and day camp leader. Let's see how much a mother's job would be worth if we decided to pay for the services rendered by the best job in the world. You will understand that this exercise is completely theoretical and only serves to fuel the discussion! Estimating the dedication of moms would be a lot more complicated than that if it had to come to that one day!
The distribution of hours
First of all, in order to understand what a mother does at home, you have to dissect her tasks and know her hourly wage. This is what we sought by constructing the following table.
The first calculation is based on the duties of a stay-at-home mom, taking into account the extra cleaning that needs to be done when the house is busy all day.
The second calculation, carried out for working mothers, was designed for single mothers since the involvement ofspouses varies greatly from one family to another. We have also not calculated the many overtime hours, the bonus that a higher number of children deserves nor the atypical schedule, the fact that the work is au pair and would include meals and accommodation in the labor market and the remote regions premium. If you feel like having a little fun, you can add them to your "working conditions".

A stay-at-home mom, according to our theoretical calculations, would earn $1227.10 per week, which equals approximately $63,810 per year. A working single mother, on the other hand, should receive a surplus of $672.11 per week or $34,950 per year.

Salary.com
According to the American website Salary.com, our calculation is far too conservative. Indeed, their calculations lead to the conclusion that the salary range of an American stay-at-home mom of two children is between $68,435 and $171,891. They also did this exercise for fathers work at home and strangely, they arrive at a lesser salary which ranges from $36,607 to $100,687.
Dad's estimate
The Au Féminin site reports the story of a father of two children, married to a housewife and who also did a salary estimate that his wife should receive for all the care and services provided to her family. He comes in at an annual salary of $73,960.
Estimated financial loss
The daily La Presse looked at the loss of income of women when they leave work to take care of children and a separation occurs.
Let's be proud
Obviously this is just a wacky exercise and we know we haven't compiled an exhaustive list of everythingwhat a mother does in a day. We also know that the work of a loving mother is worth more than all the money we could give her.
However, it is good to remember that what you do has great value. No employee is as dedicated to their career as a mom and no worker has the growth and success of their business more at heart. However, a mother told us recently: “When my spouse works in the house, he builds a balcony, he fixes things, he does tangible things. What I do, me, is only seen in the very long term in terms of education, or never for everything related to groceries and cleaning. Yet a tired mom knows how much she has accomplished.
So you can now brag, ladies, knowing that at the top rung of the US estimate you'd be making $171,891 a year, not to mention that your family thinks you're worth way more than that. In fact, your children wouldn't trade you for all the gold in the world and you already know that!
