For children, the memory of a day in the forest or urban exploration will be just as precious as an expensive vacation.

Spring break really comes into its own when you use it to break the routine! When planning the different activities for this period, always keep in mind not to do “business as usual”. Depending on the age of the children, changing the usual ritual will therefore be an opportunity to color the outings or quite simply to vary the habits of the household.

Here are some wacky ideas

  • Declare the day "upside down" where everyone will have to dress upside down, answer the opposite, ask the opposite… mixed ideas and guaranteed laughs!
  • Eat only two meals a day, ie. a lunch-dinner and a dinner-dinner. You can add an official snack in the evening… mini pizzas or popcorn, it's really a break!
  • The day after a day outdoors, have a pajama day! When we get up, we'll get dressed… in pajamas!
  • Establish a dessert-only dinner…eachfamily member could make their own recipe!
  • Dress everyone to go for a walk outside, just before going to bed… In short, do things that you don't do in the daily framed school routine!

A few ideas for accessible activities for the family…

  • Skate, outside or at the neighborhood arena.
  • There is an indoor swimming pool in all areas, ask about swimming hours and the age from which children do not need to be accompanied by an adult.
  • Go to one of the many nature parks, you may be able to rent snowshoes or cross-country skis there!
  • Check the many activities offered in museums in your area, during spring break, there are often workshops for children!
  • Go eat a croissant in another city…thanks to the commuter train.
  • Wear your snow pants and go slide in your neighborhood park!
  • For teenage video game freaks, organize a tournament with teams, all officially registered, on the wall, on a large piece of cardboard.

Spring break is not always welcome for parents, but your children are looking forward to it so plan ahead and organize with the other parents who must also find a solution to this routine shutdown. We have a little too much reluctance to use the close community to complement us. Just dare the firsttimes… Your children will be delighted!

It is possible to have fun while respecting the he alth standards recommended by the government!
