Many of us tend to meet the needs of others before our own! Family, friends, work are important, but so are you! It's time to choose you!
When you become a mom, it's crazy how your priorities change. Caring for children takes up a lot of space and that's a bit normal! But when we combine caring for the child, the little attentions towards the spouse, the household to run, the family relationships, the full-time job, the friends we support, we have to realize that 'there isn't much time left just for ourselves, to spoil ourselves, to exist outside of our roles as mom, wife, daughter, professional and friend. Before losing yourself as a person and as a woman, react, and choose yourself!
It's an observation that many women make - unfortunately a bit late - when they find themselves exhausted by their daily lives and they no longer know how to get everything done. Did you know that in Canada, one in 5 women will experience a depression or a phase of exhaustion (burn-out) in her life?
Choosing begins with small things
Before thinking about suddenly changing everything in your lifeoverloaded, try to add a little happiness in your daily life. Something just for you. Something that makes YOU feel good. Something that will make you smile!
A touch of lipstick
Maybe it's been ages since you gave up on makeup! Who would you do it for, you wonder! But for you, let's see! See how your smile looks prettier with a touch of pink, red or orange! It only takes 10 seconds and you'll feel better for hours knowing you look pretty!
A little music
Once a day, put your favorite CD in the player or plug in your iPod and turn up the sound for a song! Sad or happy, soft or rhythmic, music is known to soothe the soul, even that of the most overwhelmed!
A Treat Snack
We sit on the couch or in our favorite chair and treat ourselves to a little treat. Personally, I have my secret cabinet safe from children and their greedy hands. I have my treats, they have theirs! Inside, I place several varieties of nuts, chocolate and packets of treat snacks. Just for me!
A bit of solitude
What a rare and yet so necessary commodity! When we can't take any more questions, requests, "Mom!"”, television playing on mute and intrusive noises, we lock ourselves up in our room for 5-10 minutes or we take the old thing in the bathroom which allows us not to be disturbed (I haveused this stuff more than once…)! We take the opportunity to close our eyes and breathe deeply, to read a magazine article, to think about our next little happiness or to look in the mirror and repeat to ourselves that we are beautiful, good, fine and capable! Take the opportunity to put on a coat of lipstick, you'll kill two birds with one stone!
A special agenda
When you have a busy schedule, you usually have a diary to write everything down. There are all sorts of them, from the most serious to the funniest, including those that contain heartwarming phrases. Ditch the too serious diaries and buy yourself one that makes you feel good! Every day, by consulting it, you will draw inspiration from it.
The important thing, whatever you choose, is not to forget yourself! Do something for yourself every day, you'll love it!
A babysitter available
It's a must! To be able to go out as a couple or with friends, or to go to the grocery store or the library alone, having a reliable and available babysitter is essential. If you can't afford it too often or if the babysitter is unavailable, try to agree with a neighbor for exchanges. You take turns taking each other's children for a break of an hour or two.

The West Nile virus which is mainly transmitted to humans through the bites of infected mosquitoes is a he alth hazard. Here are some tips to protect yourself as the virus rages in Quebec
The holiday season is synonymous with excesses of all kinds: we eat more, we drink more, after all it's like a vacation! Then comes the observation that it would be necessary to lose a little weight
A thorough cleaning is always appropriate to eliminate the small accumulations slyly camouflaged in the nooks and crannies. Our homes are the subject of this, let's not forget our bodies
We had planned to go on a family trip. Four days before departure, our doctor finds a son's ear infection. He is now forbidden to fly. I have a thought: What if we go as a couple? Without him?
