Having young children is definitely not a reason to stay locked up at home. When you decide to go out, you have to prepare well!

The diaper bag
On going out, parents' best friend, is the diaper bag. The best thing is to always keep it ready: when you prepare it at the last minute, you always forget something. As the name suggests, we make sure there are diapers, wipes, cream and everything needed for diaper changes. There are also non-perishable emergency snacks, a toy or two, washcloths, spare baby clothes. Before leaving, we also put the bottles there, if necessary.

Snacks
If your kids are toddlers, it's a good idea to slip an “emergency” snack into the diaper bag. And if they're older, and you're no longer carrying a diaper bag, get into the habit of carrying a few snacks in your purse. It helps every time.

Meal time
In the same vein, we think in advance about lunches and meal times, whether you are leavingfor a few hours or for the day. Of course, amusement parks have kiosks and restaurants: they are often very expensive and the quality of the food unfortunately too often leaves something to be desired. With some exceptions, you can bring your lunch to these places and even to the beach. This will save you some precious dollars – and eat better. In the lunch bag, we bring fruit, and enough to stay hydrated all day.

Clothing
Think about a change of clothes before you leave the house, especially if your children are young. It is also necessary to provide appropriate clothing for the planned activity and the temperature. In summer, we always bring a hat, as well as a jacket in case the temperature drops or if we enter air-conditioned places.
Pssst…We really like the hats of the Quebec company Tirigolo, established since 1995 in Granby. The Mamanpourlavie.com team loves their design, patterns and colors. Plus, they're super comfy!

On the road
Not only do we have to plan what we will need once there, but we also have to think about the road. Books, snacks (yes yes, again), games, interesting applications for the tablet… Everything to pass the time!

The Stroller
If your children are under four andthere is a lot of walking on the schedule, it may be a good idea to have a stroller. We opt for foldable models (umbrella type) which do not take up much space and which can be left in the car.

Games
We always provide all-purpose games: they are very practical, especially if the children have to wait or if they are tired… For example, we bring pencils and sheets to draw on, a sticker album, small pots of modeling clay, a deck of cards, etc.

Bandages
Yes! An accident happens very quickly and there is nothing more unpleasant than having to run right and left to get your hands on bandages while our little one is shouting… And it is well known: a bobo hurts much less once covered!

The pajamas and the stuffed animal
Are you planning to come home late and put the kids straight to bed when they get home? The good idea: bring toothbrushes, pajamas and stuffed animals or comforters. The little ones will fall asleep in the car and, once home, you just have to put them to bed.

Sunscreen
A little reminder: we always carry around sunscreen… It's also another handbag essential (along with bandages and snacks)!
